Ronnie's 8 Cine

This is the Wehrenberg chain’s second six-screen movie theater to open in the St. Louis area, opening on December 19, 1978 as the Ronnie’s 6 Cine. It was located right next to the well-known Ronnie’s Drive-In, known to be Wehrenberg’s flagship drive-in theater.

On December 16, 1982, two more screens were added and became known as the Ronnie’s 8 Cine. It will officially become the only movie theater in the area following the August 3, 1983 closure of the next door drive-in that was later demolished.

When the Ronnie’s 20 Cine opened on December 22, 1999 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures), the Ronnie’s 8 Cine held on for another month until officially closing for the final time on January 30, 2000. It was demolished later on to make way for an extended parking lot, but portions of it were occupied by 54th Street Scratch Grill & Bar.

The Ronnie’s 20 Cine nearby opened on December 22, 1999, not December 17. Special credit to Rivest.
