Forum 8 Theatre closed March 16, 2020 along with all of the Goodrich Theatre Circuit’s portfolio for the COVID-19 pandemic. Goodrich then declared bankruptcy ceasing operations.

The theatre reopened under new management of GQT Movies Circuit on August 28, 2020 as the GQT Forum 8. (Mason Asset Management and Namdar Realty Group purchased the bankrupt circuit with partner VIP Cinemas taking over operation of 22 former Goodrich Quality Theatre locations including the Oxford location. GQT Movies' home office is located in Kentwood, Michigan.) This entry should be listed as Formerly Operated by Goodrich Quality Theaters and Operated by GQT Movies.

The web site of architects Paradigm Design lists the Formum 8 as one of the projects the firm designed for Goodrich Theatres. As the house was originally built for Dickinson Theatres I would presume that Paradigm only did a remodeling for Goodrich, although some older multiplexes Goodrich has acquired from other chains have been largely or entirely rebuilt.

This is similar in deisgn to the Northrock 6 in Wichita, KS, which closed many years ago. From the pictures this theatre looks smaller.

Yes, this was built by Dickinson in the early to mid ‘90’s and is a smaller version of the Springfield 8, which I believe was built first, around 1993. To compare, house #1 at the Springfield 8 seated 455 and was 70mm equipped. It also opened with full curtains over every screen. The Forum 8 house #1 seats 350 and never had curtains and was less luxurious, but still very nice.

Is this theatre the same design as the Springfield 8? Was it built by Dickinson?
