Located in the Apple Valley Mall Shopping Center. This theater originally opened as a three-screen second-run venue in the late-1960’s. It remained such until additional screens were added over the years.

The place was closed for a long stretch in the 1990’s, then re-opened under National Amusements management, at first with a discount second-run policy and more recently with first run showings at regular prices.

In 2007, it was operated by the independent Trademark Cinemas chain. By 2010, it had been taken over by Cinema Holdings, but was closed by November 2010.

Trademark Cinemas re-opened the theater on Jan, 19 2007. I was there for one of the very first shows. I have to say that the staff at the theater does a fine job. They are really great to the customers and are very friendly. The owners on the other hand shot this theater open without doing a lot of necessary improvements. It was almost two months before they got the road marquee up.Almost 3 months or more before they got the concession menu up and even now it is thrown together. The theater was very dirty at the opening. The owner which introduced himself to me (Mark Clement) was smoking in the lobby of the theater, while the employees and managers ran around to get everything together. Trademark has promised since the beginning to make our town’s theater state of the art. Most of the houses are not digital, smell of mildew, leak when it rains, they are cold in cold weather and hot in hot weather.
The list of corporate downfalls goes on and on and that is what I think the above statements are talking about. So from another film fan, the above statements are true.

I live near this cinema and it’s a crapshoot. On the one hand it’s close, cheap, and convenient, however on the other hand the cinema is very inconsistent in a number of ways. For example, a moment ago (12/21/07, 11am) I called he cinema to get times. The phone rang and rang. No picked up and there was no recording. A few months ago I wanted to catch Halloween and when I went to the cinema for a Saturday night 10pm show, I found the doors locked. An usher came up to the door and told me they closed because they wanted to “clean”. Wait, what? I worked at Showcase Cinemas for 6 years and I know it doesn’t work this way. My sense was that they wanted to go home early. I was furious because it was now too late for me to get to another theater in time. When the theater is open the price is right. My greatest complaint is that the usher doesn’t “usher”. That is, he/she doesn’t periodically peek into the theaters to ensure that teenagers aren’t misbehaving or to check the sound or temperature of the theater.

This is a very rare National Amusements theatre that reopened under different management.

No Mike that never happened in MY THEATRES,It was great to have the keys to hang around after or before hours.I could have lived in any of my theatres if they had showers in them.I did have one clean up man who lived in the back room of the LOEWS MELROSE I came to open up one day a Disney movie there was a line down the sidewalk when I got there and I went inside and the theatre had not been touched a far as cleaning,I got my staff to do the best we could do before we opened it was a wreak from a busy Friday night,I found him passed out in his backroom apartment as I called it, I hired a new clean up man that day.

I can’t believe that happened. A mom and pop theatre most likely wouldn’t pull that trick.

I was born and raised in Smithfield and vivited this theater since childhood. The girl I was always in love with, Kim Santangini, had a sister who worked there. I would always ask her to say hello to Kim, hoping Kim would call me. She never did! LOL I was devastated in 2010 when, right after some very wet weather, I was met at the door by an employee who said that they were having computer problems and so they couldn’t let anyone in. I have never been inside again. I feel like I have lost an old friend.
