This is another photo of the Rainbow Theater building.
And just an “update” on the Rainbow threatre. The ORIGINAL projectors are still upsatirs in the “booth”. Circa 1939. The “booth” is exactly as it was the day the theatre was closed and on occasion I take “ theatre junkies” (their words not mine) up to the booth and show them. The original projectors came from a US Navy ship being “scutlled” at Galveston in 1939. Anyone welcome to come take a “lookesee”. (and no they are not for sale) Sorry.
Thanks for the update and the correct address. Good luck with your antique shop.
Ok..the Rainbow Theatre was opened in 1943..closed in 1976. Trust me on this. I own it. My wife and I now own an antique shop inside the theatre. CORRECT address is 410 Paris Street. There is no (and never has been) a “New Castro” theatre in Castroville. Come see us.
Another photo of the Rainbow Theater can be seen here.
The Rainbow opened in 1950 and closed in 1990.

the address for the Rainbow Theatre is 1120 Lorenzo Street, Castroville, Tx. 78009.
I show the Rainbow and the New Castro as two seperate theatres and both located on Lorenzo St.
I’m not sure if my post is correct. The New Castro might not be the same theatre as the Rainbow, but no Rainbow (or any other theatre) was listed for Castroville. The address for the New Castro was given as Lorenzo Street, with no specific #.
The 1957 Film Daily Year Book lists it as the New Castro Theatre, with 390 seats.
Don’t have the exact address but it ws located on Lorenzo St., 78009.
