Colon is Spanish for Columbus, so the name change did have some merit.

Still listed as the Schuyler in 1951. By 1955 this is the 600 seat Colon Theater so the name was changed in the early 1950s.

Colon should be added as an aka name here.

For several years the Paramount Week ads featured a Schuyler Theatre at 251 West 82nd street and therefore on Broadway, not Columbus. Were there two?

This theatre is mentioned in Rogelio Agrasanchez, Jr.’s excellent book MEXICAN MOVIES I N THE UNITED STATES.

The SCHUYLER is listed as the COLON when showing Spanish Language movies.

On March 30, 1937 this building is listed as a 515 seat motion picture theater. On March 9, 1964 the same building is listed as a supermarket.

Was this another Brandt theatre?
