This 600-seat theater opened in 1917 on Southern Boulevard at the corner of Jennings Street as the Royal Photoplays. During the late-1920’s, it was renamed the Bronx Playhouse. By the mid-1930’s, it was called the New Royal Theatre. Around 1940, it underwent a final name change, as the Radio Theatre.

Its movie house days long over, the former theater housed an auto repair shop for many years. By 2011, it was the Jerome Redemption Center, a collection point for thrown-out rubbish.
