The Texan Theater is located in downtown Greenville. It has a large and colorful vertical “Texan” sign and a showy and colorful marquee with lots of neon.
It was in retail use for many years. In the Summer of 2010, it was being restored to be used as a dinner theatre.

I remember many happy Saturdays spent at The Texan during the mid 60’s as a child. The seats and screen are still there under the floor of the retail store. When you entered, the snack bar was to the right and the restrooms and stairs to the balcony were to the left. After the movie we would walk one block east to Big State Drug and buy food out of the futuristic revolving vending machines. Big State had the first microwave oven I ever saw.

This was the Texan in 1983.
When I worked at the Texan from 1966 to 1968 it was owned by Sullivan and Moore Theaters. The manager was Ab Moore. Soon after I left it was sold to Gulf States Theaters.
No sign of the summer 2010 restoration mentioned in the caption in April 2011
