Aha. Thank you.
Ken….Your looking for the Loew’s Kameo in Brooklyn.
The 1970 IMPA puts the Kameo in Brooklyn, but I think it’s a typo. This was under the Brandt theater listing. There’s a half page of Brandt theaters, but to narrow it down here is Brooklyn and the Bronx:
Bronx: Post Road Bainbridge, Laconia, Lido, Melba, Wakefield, Ascot, Earl, Kent, Luxor, Bronx Square, Park Plaza, Surrey
Brooklyn: Carlton, Deluxe, Earl, Regent, Sanders, Sutter, Kameo (sic), Astor Shore.
2 FILM OPERATORS SIT DOWN IN BOOTH; Audience Leaves as Strike Begins in Bronx Theatre-Management Sends Up Food, Coffee
NY Times August 21, 1937
Two motion-picture operators, on a sit-down strike, passed the night in the projection box of the Kameo Theatre, 180th Street and Third Avenue, last night in spite of the hot weather. Their action caused the theatre to close its doors after more than 300 patrons had been dismissed with passes.
Looks like a dump! I know the Kameo was a Brandt Theatre. I would to see a photo from it’s heyday.
