The AMC Santa Anita 16 opened on Friday, October 1st, 2004. This theatre is located in the Santa Anita Mall’s new wing, between Macy’s (which was Robinsons-May when the theatre opened) and J.C. Penney.
This theatre replaces an old GCC four-plex that closed in the mid-1990’s (today that site is an Old Navy).

I attended the old GCC only once to see the Scorsese version of “Cape Fear”. Typical of mall quads the theaters were nothing more than little crackerboxes. I am looking forward to checking this one out.
I was also only in the old theater once when I was visiting a relative near there but the theaters were terrible.
I should check the new one out next time I am in the area.
They WERE terrible, but when you’re a kid, you didn’t care. It was
THE MOVIES!! I remember when “Grease” played there! And “The Shining”. “Coma”. “King Kong”…..
I haven’t been to the new wing of the mall, but a friend went and said it was truly beautiful architecture!! A mall?!?! Apparently so!
My first expreriece at this specific theater has been very diappointing. Some of the employees were not very pleasant. For example, a girl named Debbie does not understand the meaning of kindness. I was signing up for the movie watcher’s program and this young lady was very rude. She gave me attitude when she handed me the card because i was talking to another person. She said “Here” in a very rude tone. This happened about the first week that you opened and i can still remember. I do not want to step foot in this theater again.
Mary, I wouldnt judge your experience by one person. when I went there the staff was over joyous and really too friendly. And I liked that.
They were willing to help, and were pleasnt to talk to.
I agree with Jeff, Mary, how can you judge an entire staff and experience by just one person. That’s just ridiculous!
The new Senior Operations Manager at the AMC Santa Anita 16 came from the theatre I work at, the AMC Neshaminy 24, in Bensalem, PA. He started with AMC at the AMc (Former GCC) Franklin Mills 14, in Philadelphia, PA
Mary, perhaps you should have been paying attention to the person you were conducting the transaction with instead of being so blatantly selfish and rude by chatting with someone else.
This complex was designed by STK Architects.
I remember the old theater, saw Back to the Future, Breakfast Club, Splash, and others I don’t remember there.
