The Rio is on the right side of this postcard.

The Arkansas Historical Society Magazine lists the Royal theatre and the Rio theatre at the same address. Does anyone know if the Royal is an aka for the Rio?

The 1941 edition of Film Daily Yearbooks lists the Royal Theatre 500 seats, and the Rio Theatre (Closed) 500 seats. In the 1943 edition of FDY, only the Rio is listed, operated by Paramount, but (Closed). By 1950, the Rio was operating again.

In the 1940’s, there is also a Rob Burns Theatre operating in Van Buren with 631 seats. This has gone from listings by 1950.

Ken, thanks for the info. The Rob Burns Theatre and the King Opera House are the same theatre, already listed on CT. I will research more on the Rio and Royal Theatres.
