The Bell Forge opened in June of 1983 by Martin Theatres. It was located by the Hickory Hollow Mall. It opened with six screens and was incresed to ten in December of 1987. Carmike took over operations in October of 1985.
It was still in operation as a first run house when it closed on August 10, 2010 .

Ah, Bell Forge. I was an assistant manager in 1989-1990, and we went through a year of remodeling while the theatre was OPEN to add the fancy marble floors and neon. Oh, what an experience. Glad to see the old girl is still chugging along!
The address should be Bell Forge Lane East. Carmike website
This theatre is now called Carmike Bell Forge 10 still open as of today.
Bell forge 10 showed it’s last films last night.
It is now closed due to declining attendance. That area has gotten pretty rough. It was already rough way back…I was robbed there in 1994.
It’s been sold to some islamic foundation.

Do not think they will be showing any movies.
This theatre had one 70mm house. I remember the manager, Dana, invited some of the competition’s managers to come see ‘Indiana Jones/Temple of Doom’ the night before it opened, summer of 1984. I worked for Consolidated at the time. We never got Paramount product, as our buyer had ticked them off over something. That eventually changed, but can you imagine not getting any of Paramount’s films?
Thanks GMNash,I saw on the news last night that the city has other ideas for the building, but the new owners want to keep with their plan. From one old manager to another welcome to Cinema Treasures.
I missed that. I wonder if Carmike removed all their fixtures? I’d love to get my hands on a piece of screen. And, thanks tls… I’ve been reading comments for some time on here, just never registerd to add my two cents.
O.K.Give us three cents!
