The Capitol Theatre opened in February of 1943 and seated 379. It was a small theatre located in downtown Decatur. The programs were changed three times a week. The early-1950’s saw the role of television take its toll on many theatres across the country and the Capitol Theatre was one of those. The theatre closed its doors on May 30, 1953.
