The fire didn’t force it to close. The fire burned the Queen City dance hall, but left the Kinema pretty much intact. The fact that the theater and a dance hall and a mortuary were all in the same building forced the building to be razed due to structural instability.
(I know this because I am the 4th generation owner of the business.)

According to a history of Mt. Pleasant, Utah website, this theater was built in 1913 and opened as the Elite Theater. “It was constructed as a ‘fireproof’ building in 1913. It burned down seven decades later. In the late 1920s, L.C. and Nada Lund changed the name of the movie house to Star Theater”.
