    CinemaTour.com visiting Long Island 9/27-9/30

Adam Martin & Scott Neff from CinemaTour.com will be driving around Long Island this coming Thursday through Sunday to take photos of as many theatres and cinemas as possible.

At this time it appears that the majority of the trip will be spent taking exterior photos, which while interesting, is not as exciting as seeing photos of actual auditoriums, lobbies and projection rooms. If you or somebody you know has access to the interiors of ANY theatres, please contact to discuss setting up a window so they could stop by and capture the theatre’s history.

This request is for any and all theatres on Long Island, and we’ll drive to the surrounding areas if it means getting detailed photos of anything about to close or be demolished.

Since we are from the West Coast, please comment/e-mail concerning locations that are a must see, or are themselves in danger of closing or being demolished. We don’t want to travel across the country and wind up missing the last opportunity to take the only photographs that may publicly exist of these beautiful (and sometimes not so beautiful) venues.

  • Return of the B Movies

National Amusements is launching another series of
Attack Of The B-Movies this Thursday, September 20th.

The original series, which ran in August in five of National Amusement’s Cinemas locations in MA and RI, proved to be so successful that the series is being expanded to 20 theaters in 8 states.

It might be fun to see these movies again and reminisce about seeing them originally in our local movie palace.

John Waters to perform at historic Carolina Theatre

GREENSBORO, NC — Whether one likes or dislikes the films of trash cinema pioneer John Waters, few can argue that he is an interesting figure in the world of cinema.

On Sept. 22, Waters will perform a one-man show about his origins in the trash cinema genre at the historic Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro.

Though the Carolina Theatre does not show films on a regular basis as it once did, it has to be considered a renovation success story as it almost burned to the ground some 25 years ago. Today it is the oldest active cinema in Greensboro.

The cinema is also screening Elia Kazan’s masterpiece “On the Waterfront” on Sept. 11.

The address of the Carolina Theatre is 310 South Green Street. The phone number for the theatre is 336-333-2605. Their web site is located here.
