Weird configuration. Located at the southern end of the mall. At the entrance theaters 1 and 2 in the right theater 3 on the left. Behind this is a long ramp upwards. At the end of the ramp to the right theaters 6 through 10 9 being IMAX. to the left at the top another wing includes concessions and theaters 11 to 15 the small studio theaters.
Why in the world do they insist on Valley Fair mall to be in San Jose when it’s clearly in Santa Clara? Across Stevens Creek Boulevard The Santana Row formerly the Town & Country shopping center is in San Jose.
I was the manager of this theater in the summer of 1985. Much like the Airport in Oakland, the Oakland in San Leandro and Fremont auto movie, it had a sunken almost bunker projection booth that would beam upward to the enormous screen. Kent was my assistant. Wonderful times. The swap meet was legendary!😍
As of 2025, all 4 screens all 3 booths concessions and the large box office to the north are still standing!Now that the Redwood in West Valley is completely demolished there might be life in this ozoner. Stay tuned folks!😉
Per Wikipedia, this theater premiered the original 5-½ hour 😵💫😵💫😵💫🤯🤯🤯 cut of Heaven’s Gate November 19th 1980 moved from Christmas 1979. The critics savage it. The audience despite the violence fell asleep!!! A week later it ess down to its most infamous version of 3hrs39mins version. This time the critics yawned and the audience demanded their money back. United artists was ruined for good. Michael Cimino only did 4 films til his death .
