My brother and I lived in Texas in the summer of 1991 & one day we went looking for this drive in, Midnight Cowboy was our favorite movie. Never did find it, but we found Big Springs Hardware, which Joe Buck walks by at the beginning. The owner of the hardware store said that Jon Voight and some of the crew were amazed that you could walk in any store there and purchase a gun just like anything else with no problems!
On a cold, rainy day in December of 1979 this theatre held the world premiere of “Star Trek-The Motion Picture”. Robert Wise actually brought the film cans here because Paramount was in a rush for him to complete it for the holiday season. Shatner, Nimoy, Gene Roddenbery & the rest were here for the premiere. Now a CVS pharmacy occupies the building. There ought to be a law!
Saw “The Doors” there in 1991 also saw the original “Child’s Play” in 1988 when I was a Junior in high school. It was fairly new in ‘88 so it couldn’t have been open for too long then.

wow, a road going right through the middle of the drive-in!
a very small screen
such a grand & majestic looking theatre. why must they be demolished for “progress?”
couldn’t have closed in 1984, Pretty In Pink is a spring 1986 release
sad how the marquee deteriorated from 1954 to 1992
hmmmmm….
would love to see some photos
I was by the old Cinema 6 this past weekend, it is now a Social Security Administration building.

Nice!!!
Couldn’t have closed in February of ‘83 if Flashdance played there for 6 months. It was released in '83
Thanks Allan, I’ve always enjoyed reading about the Dixie Square Mall too!!
One cool looking screen tower!
How far was the Harvey Theatre from the Dixie Square Mall?
Wikipedia states the film had its world premiere at the K-B MacArthur theatre
looks like the ticket booth is still standing
