Some films that were 1.85 and 70MM were shown like scope. An example is Fame in 1981 and The Rose in 1979.I would be curious to hear how they do this film. Mark_L is there a site to go to that tells you if a film is in scope or 1.85?
This is wonderful news. I could not see how they couldn’t have this film at the Ziegfeld. Let’s hope it is 70MM scope not 70MM flat. I hated films that were filmed in 70MM flat like A Star Is Born and Altered States. To me it isn’t true 70MM unless it’s also scope.
Glad to see Phila is gettin git Howard. Would have been great had it been the Boyd. Now why the hell isn’t the Ziegfeld getting it in NYC. The Village East Cinemas please they can’t compare to the Ziegfeld.
The Isis is being reopened as a concert restaurant venue. They have installed a beautiful marquee and a duplicate of the original sign that reads Isis. Will upload a photo as soon as I can.
All theaters were converted to digital the week of August 13. Saw The Bourne Legacy there this weekend, but the print looked 35mm. I know the theater was equiped for digital because before the previews the Regal Ent group opening with the train was in digital by Sony. It was very clear and VERY loud. This is stillmy favortite theater in Asheville.
Ronnie it closed in 1991 I am not exactly sure when. I know when I was home for Christmas in 91 it was closed and they were going to put a Barnes and Noble there. Once United Artists purchased the Sam Eric Chain they closed most of their theaters. Nothing from my childhood there is open including GCC/Eric/ UA Clifton heights Twin
Acording to the Frank Theater web site it lists only showings for 9 screens. It was changed to 11 when Frank’s took it over. Please correct information at the top showing 15 screens
Ross M you need to create a like button like we have on Facebook because I love your response and comment.
Markp I agree Cinemark should level this theater and either take a loss of start from scratch and build a new more modern multiplex that would have no reminder of the tragedy.
Apparently American Classic Images which had tons of wonderful theater pictures is out os business. When you click on any of the links it says domain for sale. :(
Somone else told me that an on my I Phone I dont have anything that says Technical Specs. Where are you finding it. You can e mail me if you want CS.
Lowes and Walgreens sits on the site of this former drive-in theater.

WHy would they not show it in the main theater with the huge curved screen?
I also think Clearview should have fought to get it at the Ziegfeld too. It could have played 70MM at both theaters.
Me too Ed. I just saw that they have a 1200 seat theater. I live in NC and there is no place close that this will play in 70mm.
Why is the 70mm print of The Master NOT coming to the Ziegfeld. This really sucks as tghis wil probably be the last movie shot in 70mm.

I guess hte big question is have these theaters converted to digital and it so taht would kill showing it in 70mm.
This is great news. I hope they are opening with digital projectors and soudn system

The screen looks very square and small and not capable of showing movies in scope.
