Ok I am confused. Is the above photo a new photo or an old one. In looking throught the photos I saw on that showed the marquee totally gone and a new front for the Rock Church.
Snow White and The Huntsman opens June 1 in digital. It has never been unusual for theaters to close for a few weeks. When I lived in NYC in the late 70’s and early 80’s they did it all the time.I remember they played New York New York from Memorial day weekend until the Thursday before labor day and than closed and had nothing for labor day weekend. They reopened a few weeks later.
I was there a few times. I saw a re release of American Graffiti and Chapter One in the late 70’s before it was twinned than saw one movie in the upstairs theater but can’t rememebr what it was.
It didn’t say REgal. I went to Tally many times between 1986 and 1990. There was a UA theater that operated as a $1.00 discount house, a theater in a small mall and a theater operated by Eastern Federal theaters right near the Governors mall. I don’t find any of these listed here on CT.
If I remember correctly this theater had the exclusive showingin 1978 of the movie version of A Little Night Music with Elizabeth Taylor which never played Manhattan.
I can’t believe they didn’t do a good business. Midnight In Paris played there last year for over 6 months. These big chain theaters really suck closing all the good single screen theaters.
They are very good for closing some of ths screens in theaters they purchase. The closed the lower 4 theaters at the Las Olas Riverfront theater in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. It was originally 23 screens when opened by Regal in the late 90’s Regal eventually
closed 8 of the screens in the lower section including the largest one. Now Frank has closed the remaining 4 lower screens
When I was in the area in 1991 ir had benn covnereted to a bookstore.
I did go there but work blocked it as a dangerous site. SIGH. Are they stillshowing movies Howard?
Is this theater still in oepration? I knew they filed for bankruptcy in 2010.

We were in Atlanta a few months backa nd the drive in marquee is amazing. I couldn’t see any of the screens from the street.
OMG if AMC gets a hold of this they will ruin the Ziegfeld.

IS this a United Arttist theater?
OK are they going to carve up the beautiful main auditorium or just add screens ina na adjoining building?

I went to this theater often in the70’s. It was converted to a twin in the late 70’s.
It was open in th elate 70’s. By the time I stated going back and forth between NYC and PHila in 82 and 83 it was closed.
Was this on the sight of the old Newark Drive -In?

This sucks. Maybe somneone will take over the lease.
I lived in TAmpa from 83-96 and worked at USF up the road from the mall and this was a great mall than. Wow what 16 years can do.
So does the curtain open up or across Ed? It is absolutely beautiful
It will be interesting to see if this theater will add digital projection or fold. I hope they invest and add the digital.
Years ago when it was showing movies ti had Plitt in the same spot.
I Sure wish they would do away with this 3-D crap and bring back 70MM. I would pay extra for 70MM
Scarey that AMC owns this theater you know how they are about small theaters that are not multiplexes.
The 12 screens hey have open are all in the food court. The original 4 from GCC were in the back of the mall.
