If AMC is decreasing the seating here with recliners, the new Regal in Nanuet must be cutting into there grosses. Also the Palisades is horrible with trying to park especially at the theater level.
Not very likely that the Lincoln Square will get the seating that was installed at the Loews 86th Street. The Lincoln Square wouldn’t survive with that kind of severe reduction. Lincoln Square is doing sell out business. The 86th was washed up. Not getting the cream of the bookings and getting move overs from the Lincoln Square.
Lincoln Square is a desired location for a lot of exclusive runs.
Bedford Playhouse meets $2.5M goal to reopen cinema
In just five months, the Friends of Bedford Playhouse raised the $2.5 million they sought to turn the shuttered two-screen movie house into an art-house cinema.
The vision for Bedford Playhouse is as ambitious as its fund-raising goal: Bring back one large screen, what they hope will be Westchester’s largest, to a restored main theater; add a second, more intimate theater; present classics, documentaries, independents and family fare; teach film appreciation to local schoolkids; sponsor a speaker and reading series and host special events featuring local movie insiders.
Seems that Maine Coast Mall Cinemas 2 closed on January 19, 2015. I was under the impression that they never converted to Digital and were having problems booking films. Last films were,The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
Since 2013, the Ziegfeld has been managed by Bow Tie Cinemas, on behalf of Cablevision, which owns the theater (the theater was previously part of the Clearview Cinemas theater chain prior to the chain’s sale to Bow Tie; the actual ownership of the Ziegfield building was excluded from the sale).
It would then be Cablevision’s decision to update the seats,
Has anyone been to the Chelsea since the remodel. Still only 6 screens open. They must be working on the Screens 1 – 3 now. Reserved seating takes effect today. Hope to check it out soon. It was the theater I went to most when I was living a few blocks away.
We were told on Saturday that the laser projectors will be installed next summer and the Lincoln Square IMAX will be one of the first to have an install.
No IMAX print of the upcoming ‘Hunger Games’ film. No 15/70 mm prints of the upcoming “The Hobbit' film. No IMAX footage was shot.
Tickets are on sale for the 70mm presentation of ‘Interstellar’.
The print version of the film is getting a 2 day jump on the Digital release. Hopefully this will give the old girl a bump. The only other 70mm print will be at the Cinema 1.
With the 15/70mm print at the Lincoln Square IMAX.
Any 35mm prints in NYC? I didn’t see any listed.

It is just short of a 3 hour film and I wold think they are trying to get 2 shows at night in. Shows are at 10AM, 2PM, 6PM, 10PM & 2AM.
I wonder what kind of crowds they get for a 2 AM showing?
I am seeing it Saturday at 2PM. Having to come in from outside the city.
I see the Tuesday night 8 PM show is close to selling out already.
The only bargain priced tickets on 42nd and Manhattan theaters are shows before 12 noon. Bowtie offers these prices at the Chelsea. I can’t remember the last time there was a morning show at the Ziegfeld.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” is back at the Ziegfeld in 2D. Definitely worth checking out again.
The last time I asked at customer service I was told late summer or early fall. The laser projection seems to be on a slow roll out by IMAX.

I was told a couple of weeks ago when I asked that the upgrade was not going to happen until August or September.

2 of the better Holiday releases.
One show listed for 12/24. 7:00 PM.
‘Into the Woods’ opens here on Christmas eve. Will be attending one of the shows on Christmas Day.

This theater has been incorporated into the Providence Place 16 operated by Showcase Cinemas.
It seems amusing the OdeonNotFanatical is only on here to voice disparaging on the Empire conversion. 18 for 18 so far.

I would check with the theater that there hasn’t been a mistake with their website.
Looks like 35mm prints at the Chelsea and Union Square. I am surprised either one still had 35mm equipment.

Tickets are on sale for Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ playing at the IMAX in 15/70mm and 4K on the Loews Screen.
15/70mm from what I have read. Curious if they are striking a special print for them seeing that the screen was designed for IMAX digital not 15/70mm.
So the news on the interweb is that the Chinese is getting 70mm projection installed for the engagement of “interstellar”.
Under performing to it’s potential. Have you seen how pathetic their IMAX presentation is since they switched from 15/70mm.
The Lincoln Square IMAX is still under performing using4K Digital Projection.
So AMC is going to screw up the Lincoln Square more than they have already.
