Located off US 58, the Emporia Drive-In opened in 1951 and was operated by Valley Entertainment of Washington, DC. By 1955 it had been taken over by Benjamin Pitts and renamed Pitts Drive-In. This single screen drive-in closed in 1973.

Emporia used to have one of the finest small town movie palaces in this country.Acording to the National trust magazine some years back and a man engaged at the time to the owner’s daughter,the soulless pratt cared not a witt about it,and it was leveled.
Above address is incorrect. Approx. address for this drive-in was 1001 Pleasant Shade Drive.
