The Grand Cinemas was opened on June 19, 1981 by SRO Theatres. It was originally a 5-screen theatre. Later taken over by Loews Cineplex, on December 6, 1985 they added 3 new screens and office space for what became the Loews District office.
When Loews at the Alderwood opened, the district office was moved as well, and the theater played second run movies until it’s closure in late-2005.

The Grand was built by SRO Theatres.
This theater opened in June of 1981. Two of the movies that opened there were “Superman II” and “For Your Eyes Only”. The latter movie changed my life because after seeing it I became a 007 fan and collector for 30 years now. So the Grand Cinemas Alderwood theater will always be special to me.
