Located in Bradford city centre. The Bridge Street Chapel was built in 1838. It was converted into the New Picturedrome, which opened on 21st March 1910 with “An Outlaw’s Sacrifice” plus a vaudeville programme on the stage. Seating was provided for 700 and it was operated by Hamilton’s Flickerless Pictures.
In 1949 after a refurbishment and up-grade, it was re-named Astra Cinema, re-opening with Arthur Lucan in “Old Mother Riley’s Ghost”.
The Astra Cinema was closed on 29th January 1956 with Don Taylor in “Japanese War Bride” and the Bowery Boys in “Smart Boys”. The building was demolished in 1959 for road works.
