Screens 1-5 opened on August 13th, 1993. Grand opening ad in the photo section.

In the 1990’s Cineplex Odeon cinemas were built next to IMAX theatres in Scottsdale, AZ, Brossard, QC and Calgary. All closed except for the Calgary location.
Ownership timeline:
This theatre’s opening movies include Robin Hood: Men in Tights, In the Line of the Fire, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, and Hearts and Souls in DTS. The weekend after, it also showed Manhattan Murder Mystery and Hard Target in DTS.
On May 31st 2024, Cineplex Odeon Eau Claire Market will close for redevelopment. Following the closure, Cineplex Odeon Grande Prairie will be the last Cineplex location to use pre-1999 branding on it’s exterior.
This cinema closed at the end of May 5, 2024. Its two final films were “Sasquatch Sunset” and a re-run of “So I Married an Axe Murderer.” It and the rest of Eau Claire Market will be demolished for a station for Calgary’s LRT green line.
