According to the Carlsbad Current-Argus, this was the first Cavern Theatre in Carlsbad. It made its first appearance in Film Daily Year Book 1930 and the Sanborn Maps of 1930.

When Bill Bartlett and his father Ray took over in 1946 the name was changed to the Corral Theatre and they closed it in 1951 when they opened the new Cavern Theatre.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s the Bartletts operated all of the theaters in Carlsbad and in 1975 they sold out their interests to Frontier Theatres, which was later taken over by Commonwealth Theaters.
