The Marubutsu Kaikan opened its doors in 1950 as a Daiei theater, and was opened on the third floor of a three-story reinforced concrete building that was newly-constructed due to the land readjustment issue. It was first operated by the Chitose Kogyo Company, the same company that operated the Chitose Theater.
It originally operated screening a mix of Daiei and foreign features, but became a premiere theater for Daiei in 1952. Exactly several years after its 1957 renovation, the theater was relocated to the fourth floor in December 1964 and was renamed the Marubutsu Toho after Toho acquired the theater. At the time, the theater housed 396 seats. On November 14, 1969, the theater relocated AGAIN, this time to the sixth floor, and reopened that same day. In 1973, due to differences in opinion with Marubutsu itself, Toyohashi Marubutsu formed an alliance with Seibu Department Stores, and as for that result, the theater was renamed the Toyohashi Seibu Toho Theater.
Unfortunately the Toho theater last operated with 270 seats and closed for the final time in August 1997. The Toyohashi Seibu chain would then cease operations on August 10, 2003. The Sala Group in 2004 would later require the former site and the theater was demolished. The Cocora Front commercial complex was built on its site which began construction in June 2006 and ended on August 2, 2008.
