TC: I posted the above website on the Tower Theatre page…hope that’s okay as I see that you have added this information for all the other Rothacker theatres listed on CT. Yet I couldn’t find a page for the Alvina Kraus Theatre though. I’m glad that these prints are being presented to the members of Cinema Treasures as I’m sure many will purchase a favorite(s).
I just checked the Pheasant Run website and they do have a theatre in which you can take a virtual tour. I suppose this theatre venue is in competition with the Arcada, but in a city that size there is room for everyone. And the Arcada has what is called ‘charm’ which I don’t think the Pheasant Run theatre will ever have although it is very nice. If interested, the website is www.pheasantrun.com
I just contacted Mr. Rothacker via email so he is well aware or soon will be of his name being posted here! If I hear from him, I’ll post his reply here.
The following post/website address was cut and pasted from the Indiana Theatre #2996 page and if someone wants to contact George Rothacker to perhaps paint the St. Charles as a fundraiser this is where you’d find him thanks to CT member, “TC”. His work is colorful and very well done!
Yes, the Indiana Theatre is also on the above site. They are all beautiful, but especially the snowfall scene of the Indiana! I haven’t checked yet, but just wondered if all of the theatres that are featured as prints are on this cinema treasures website?
It’s amazing to me how these theatre organs disappear and then can’t be find/located so they can be returned to their rightful spot in a restored theatre. :–(
Sam_e: I sure agree with your FLW/Larkin accessment! Buffalo will NEVER live down what happened to that Larkin Administrative Building. BTW, are you aware of the annual Larkin Expo? A friend of mine, Jerome Puma is very involved with that event each year so if you want additional information I can provide it for you via Jerry. Also, through eBay last year I purchased a Larkin cold creme jar (no lid though) that I treasure and have colorful Lake Erie beach glass in it now.
Elvis Sighting…..In the 50’s Elvis appeared at the Carolina Theatre in Charlotte NC and just before he died I saw Elvis, in concert, at the former West Palm Beach Auditorium in West Palm Beach FL. It’s an experience I will NEVER forget!
I am very good friends with the couple who started Claddagh and communicate with them quite often so will let them know of the recent New Angola Theatre Cinema Treasures posts.
Yes, another week of tryouts at the Orpheum! I thought the 4th season was going to literally crash and burn when Simon and Paula got into a fight over that one group of male singers! Oh well, at least we’re all getting to see the beautifully restored Orpheum, but believe the organ may have been removed as I can’t seem to spot it when the camera shows the stage and the first row of seats.
Chris: I see on your profile that you just joined this cinema website….TODAY! So welcome and may you receive as much enjoyment from becoming a Cinema Treasures member as I have since joining in late November ‘04.
Years ago my husband and I visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio and was looking forward to the King of Rock and Roll display, but the final date for that showing was prior to my arrival so didn’t get to see it. I was with several others who were in my age range and we all left thinking there was much more ‘rock’ than ‘roll’ represented at the Hall of Fame!
Chris: This theatre website never seems to amaze me as the posts are most interesting and informative such as yours! Good luck with your Presley appearances investigation. BTW, did you ever hear that Elvis had a son? If you go to www.elvisjr.com you can come to your own conclusion(s)then share your thoughts if you wish to do so. Thanks. I was told that when filming Blue Hawaii he met a young lady who worked on the set and that she is deceased now.
There are many theatres listed under Charlotte NC so if anyone can tell me about a theatre that I spotted in the NoDa section of the city, thanks. I was trying to find someone’s home near Matheson and North Davidson when I spotted a small theatre in that part of town, but didn’t have time to go around the block and check it out!
I read that it utilized rear-screen projection which is interesting as I guess that was a rare feature. My husband’s hometown theatre in PA utilized this projection. When I asked him about his theatre memories while growing up as a young boy that was the first thing he mentioned!
Recently while traveling in the NoDa section of Charlotte along North Davidson I spotted a theatre that appeared to still be a theatre, but not sure so can anyone give me additional information? I don’t recall the name of the street where the theatre was located in that area as I didn’t go around the block to get a second look and should have, but will return soon.

James Dean’s Indiana hometown was Fairmount.

Most cities give an email address, etc. for their Mayor on a city website so I would think that information for the St. Charles Mayor would be on it!

TC: Thanks so much for this print site as there are several to choose from including the art deco Riviera!
Sam_e: Thanks for posting your theatre organ knowledge as it is most interesting!
Sam_e: I agree! What a bunch of strange idol wha-ta-bes! I do have a few favorites that I believe will make the race to the final round though!
Has an email/regular mail address been posted for the Mayor of St. Charles, Sue Klinkhamer?

Chris: Keep us all posted on what develops with your investigative research in regards to the King of Rock and Roll.

I sure hope all the ‘players’ in this saga come together and make this work! St. Charles is too quaint a town to NOT have a theatre!
