My November 2005 picture HERE.

Looks in good shape here, and 2 screens too. Will get some updated photos next time I pass through. Was open a couple of weeks ago.

All the on-post theaters were indoor, sorry…

I grew up in El Paso and recall the drive-ins fondly. Bronco, Ascarate, Bordertown (I ran a business right across the street behind CharBurg), Rocket out on Dyer St., Del Norte (closest to our house…).

And being military dependent, numerous theaters located on post. Some very large, some super small (Logan Heights).

Next time I go to San Antonio to take pics, I’ll get some of what it looks like today.

There’s one in Houston too. Translates to Temple of Power & Joy

Should be Feb 2009 above…

Another angle from the same area. The arrows and text make no sense for a haunted house. Looks like instructions for a work crew?

No, just someone that takes my camera with me when I travel around…. Wether by company van or on my motorcycle…

Went by Feb 23 2008.

A view of the skeletal remains of the SCREEN

Underneath the screen looking up.

The Magical BOX where they keep the letters for the marquee.

Some sort of Decoration (fountain maybe?) where the cars filter in towards the ticket booth.

Ticket Booth As seen here in the weeds.

The screen As Seen from the ticket booth.

And the Projection Booth.

Enjoy!

A Feb 2009 Shot HERE Notice the front entry way has changed. Looks like some work going on inside.

Truck parked right in front the first day I went by, was much more crowded the 2nd time I went through a few days later.

Went by on 2/23/08 and snapped a few pics.

Outside View everyone’s seen before.

Back Side of the building with the added on Air Conditioning room.

To the LEFT as you peek into the hole in the back where the plywood is missing. And to the RIGHT in the same room.

A peek through some broken glass to view the LOBBY

Closeup of the RIG Sign

Inside the glass shot of the Edna. Lots of spare neon for the marquee. Not sure why the red arrows are spray painted at various places inside.

Looks like the Lynn Theatre website bit the dust as well. Certainly not a good sign…

I live in Austin, and my job takes me to areas like McAllen (where I am right now), Laredo, El Paso, Houston and all parts in between. Many times I try to take the long way home and hit the small towns along the way. I’ll post some this weekend when I get back home.

Still there, sad as always. I took some more photos, got a few shots of the lobby through some broken glass, and some other assorted ones.

Oh yeah, still standing as of 3-4 weeks ago. I will be traveling through Premont early next week, I’ll swing by and check it out, but it’s never changed all the times I drove through town.

You also see signs of a fire on the front right side of structure.

Here’s a pic I took when the screen was left standing. Didn’t last much longer after this was taken. Don’t have an exact date, but certainly early 80’s

Here is a Feb 2009 shot of the interior, looking at the doors that separated the lobby from the seating area. Lady at the shop said this is original. Beyond the doors, is the cafe.

Here is a shot of the apartment at the top floor, which used to house the balcony for the theatre. Shop owner said the balcony was originally segregated. Photo taken from the courtyard for the cafe, which is where the seats used to be. The theatre partially burned down long ago.

Here’s another interior shot, I would assume the slanted wall is caused by the stairs leading to the balcony originally.
