Labor Day weekend the perfect time to go to the Movies, and this great theatre is still showing The Baxter? The place must be empty! Clearview wake up!

What about the Orleans Cinema? Was that part of the same chain?

I remember this one well! My mom would drop me off there or in Chatham , to see a movie on a rainy day then would visit her sister!

The Monomoy Theatre is a Playhouse located a few blocks from the Chatham Cinema.

This is the Times Square Theatre they should try to save! Polite workers, clean auditoriums, excellent sound and projection, yet from the outside it looks closed and even only has outdated movie posters outside the box office! POOR MANAGEMENT here but even worse at the E walk!

What a dump this place has become! On 3 recent visits I have been forced to walk up several flights of stairs (Broken escaltors for over a month!), Dirty bathrooms, smelly theatres with torn seats and gum on them, watered down coffee and nasty workers! All this for $10.75 for a weekday matinee! Oh, and the place was practically empty!

The theatre was operational into the 1980’s, it is now a CVS!

The “Astor Theatre” always had that blank sign under the big marqee. I only saw it once with a poster on it! It was in the early 70’s when the 3D flick “The Stewardesses” played there! I think the Ann- Margret hit “Bye Bye Birdie” also screened there in 1963.

It satarted when it was still the “Stuart”, housing many homeless and prostitute types due mainly to its cheap admission policy!

Forrest136
Forrest136 commented about Stuart Theatre on Aug 30, 2005 at 5:25 am

The “Stuart Theatre”, in its final days was like a toilet! The place reeked of urine and bodu odor and was raided on many occasions by police for illicit sexual activity!

Can anyone tell me if any memorabilia of the Embassy is for sale? I undersatnd that some of the bricks from the theatre are installed on the front of a house on Maple Street in Waltham! Any information would be appreciated!

The “Embassy” had wonderful Spanish design and a ceiling that had emerging stars and ever changing colored lights! Does anyone have any interior photos of this theatre?

There was a film company called Cinerama Releasing that distributed films such as, “Me, Natalie” with Patty Duke, “Scrooge” with Alber Finny, “The Boys In The Band”, and I think “Lovers And Other Strangers”

The “Pilgrim Theatre” was one of the last porn palcaes in Boston! It was a shame to see this once beautiful theatre so scarred and defaced! Its also a shame that the City of Boston never tried to save many of the relics on Wsahington Street! Thankfully the Paramount that is basically non-descript compared to The Pilgrim and Gary is being saved!
