Amazing, the plan looks great. The new marque looks wonderful - and the re-creation of the big vertical ‘Loew’ Jersey' sign is really ‘the frosting on the cake’!

Many of us feel that the destruction of this landmark Palace was ‘a crime against New York’ (along with the Brooklyn Fox, Academy Of Music 14th Street, and others

This is correct, KING KONG played at the ‘Center’ aka ‘New Roxy’. A lawsuit forced the ‘New Roxy’ to change the name to “The Center Theater' later.

This is the Chapel Street entrance / exit for Loew’s College (at this time only an ‘exit’) the extended ‘over-hang’ projection booth can be seen. After decades of closure and water damage, this booth collapsed into the alley below, this led to the entire water damaged theater being demolished. The only part that remains is a small portion of the lobby on College Street which is now a retail store. A sad ending for the Hyperion Theater.

The Westville Theater survived into the 1970s – I saw Saturday Night Fever and Super Fly there. Small neighborhood second run theater in the Westville section of New Haven.

The ‘box’ marquee in this photo was replaced by the 2-sided marquee. You can see part of the stylish vertical sign that adorned the theater.

Went once – what a waste of time. Theaters are so small, it’s like watching your large screen TV at home. – Well – back to the Loew’s Jersey 3200 seat Palace for some classic films on that huge screen! (wish the King’s in Brooklyn would show films from time to time)
