Ramova Theatre Stands on Shaky Ground

CHICAGO, IL — The Ramova Theatre was once one of the jewels of the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side and could be demolished by the city, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Located in the neighborhood where current mayor Richard M. Daley grew up, the Ramova has fallen from grace. Ceiling plaster and debris now blocks the doorways. The deteriorating Ramova Theatre, 3518 S. Halsted, has been shuttered since the mid-1980s.

There was an article written about the Ramova in the Sun-Times the other day…..and in it they gave an email address to go to so you could sign a petition to try and save the Ramova….return her to her days of splendor. I spent many happy hours in that beautiful theater as a child and young lady and was just heartbroken to see what she has become through neglect.
Come on fellow Cinema Treasures members…let’s rally behind this theater and get as many names on that petition as possible!!
Please help by going to www.savetheramova.com and signing the petition!!
Let’s restore our Southside gem to her original glory…..then the Northside can have the Music Box and Bridgeport can have the Ramova!!
