When I last saw the Mulkey in 1988 it stood closed and lonely. It had a wonderful double sided marquee that extended out from the building and and formed a point. On top of the marquee "Mulkey" was spelled out in individual dark red letters that were outlined with neon tubing. The front of the building had pink and red tile.

through blurry eyes and a heavy heart i enjoy yet another dream my grandfather lived and meant to share. days, nights and weekends spent at the sandell drive-in and the mulkey "downtown" are all too vivid and missed by this ol' TX kid...(and especially the boathouse)
though time have pulled us apart my heart is with you Giggie...
