The Bijou opened in 1906. Historic photographs show a large, handsome, brick building of five floors, with stone or plaster detailing in a restrained classical style. The theatre had two balconies and a large fly tower. The Bijou was severely damaged by a fire on December 19th, 1943, and the building was demolished in 1949.

There is another Bijou Theatre in downtown Chattanooga located at 215 Broad St. that us currently in operation, not listed ont CT. Jack, do have anything on this theatre.

since the site doesn't respond well to urls. Once there, do a search for Bijou and it will direct you onto the photo site.

The Bijou Theatre was one of four theatres operated by Paramount Theatres, subsidiaries.
