Before the Stony Brook 17 opened, Loews operated a twin in the same shopping center. The theatre was located right in the middle of the strip mall. It opened on June 26, 1974. It became a triplex on May 30, 1980. All three auditoriums were located right next to each other and appeared to be of similar sizes and were long and narrow.

Many many memories of this triplex. Actually I think it might have been a double that was made into a triple later on. Although I do actually like the new Stony Brook Loews, this one had it’s charm.
The Loews Stony Brook Twin Theatre opened in 1974. In the late 80’s Theatre #1 was split into (2) screens creating the triplex. The entire triplex was demolshed when the new 17 plex was built in the same shopping center
Never heard of this one before.
VivaLaDrivein, where are all the “Many many Memories"this theatre should have more than what you wrote if you have stories they need to be on,but since you were last on in 2007 , a lost cause. And Tisloews "you never heard of this one before”.Wow.
This was a goldmine location for Loew’s.
I believe this was triplexed long before the late 1980s.
I remember taking the bus to Smith Haven Mall and then walking across the highway to the Stony Brook Triplex. Probably not a good idea in hindsight. Right next to the bowling alley and not far from Friendly’s, the trifecta! Last film I remember seeing there was Mrs. Winterbourne.
This opened as Loews Twin on June 26th, 1974. Grand opening ad posted.
Please update, became a Triplex on May 30, 1980, No Grand Opening ad.
