The Texan Theatre was built in 1931. By 1941 it was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Julius Gordon and it was remodeled, only to be destroyed by fire a few months later in 1942. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1944. After the 1938-built Crim Theatre was closed in 1966 the name was transfered to the Texan Theatre and it was closed in 1973.
The exterior of the building has been restored to its original look, but sits unused. In 2017 there are plans proposed to restore it as a convention center.
