The Von Theater was built in 1940 and is located on the corner of West Center Street & East Street. It had a 'colored balcony' in the days of segregation. It was renamed Bon Theater in the mid-1960's.

After closing it became a medical clinic. That has since closed and in August 2009, there was talk about refurbishing the theater to become a community performing arts center.

The location given for the Bon Theater is West Center Street & East Street. If you want to see the building on Google maps, use 242 West Center Street as the address.

Here is another article that includes a close-up photo of the entrance to compare with the Google map photo. In case the link expires, the article explains where the Von Theater got it's name. The theater owner, W.H. Carver purchased a used neon sign that read "AVON". The letter "A" on the sign didn't light so the theater was named "VON". The name "BON" was taken from the last operater of this theater, Eddie Bond.
