The Highland was designed by John Eberson in Streamline Moderne style and opened in 1940. It was located on Pennsylvania Avenue in the Hillcrest community of Washington. The theater closed in 1977. Today, the building houses a child daycare center.

The Highland Theatre seated 600 people.

The HIGHLAND is dead but not demolished. Boarded up in 1977, this neighborhood was so high-crime that tearing down closed-up theatres wasn't worth the trouble.
