The owner of Muni Storage purchased the former Grand-Vu Drive-In Theater and demolished the concessions building earlier this year. On Monday, Gregg Olsen will ask the City Council to annex and rezone the property so he can expand his storage and U-Haul rental business just south of it.

The grand opening ad for the Grand-Vu May 29, 1952, is now in the photo section. Roger Marsh of Associated Amusements, a very well known man in the community and local government, previously opened the Motor-Vu in 1947. In 1967 Mr. Marsh sold the drive-in to Interstate Amusements (not the Texas chain).
Roy Roper, one of Interstate’s founding partners, passed away in 1984 at the age of 52. Mr. Roper’s obituary in the Times-News said he got his start in the theater business in Butte, Montana as a doorman. He was said to be the youngest man in the nation to ever manage a Fox theater.

July 3, 1958, was a landmark day in Twin Falls. Intermountain Theatres hold on big first run films was broken. Bridge On The River Kwai opened at the Grand-Vu, playing until July 15. Of course Intermountain was countering with The Vikings at the Orpheum and Around the World in 80 Days at the Idaho, so the July 4 weekend was a feast for moviegoers. The ad is in the photo section.
