Started as a neighborhood second run house, became a foreign language (mainly Polish) house in the late Fifties, ended its days as a porno house called Luxor Follies in the late Sixties. Demolished to make way for the Gateway Newark office complex.

WOW Newark sure had a lot of theatres in it’s day.

There were 48 theatres listed in the 1941 edition of Film Daily Yearbook for Newark.

Listed as a Negro Theater in the 1951 FDY.
