The Strand opened in 1914, located on Lincoln Avenue near Southport and Wellington Avenues in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. By the 40s, the theater had been renamed the City Theater, which operated into the 60s. Today, the building houses a carpeting store.

This building still retains its original, operational stud lighting on the facade, which makes it somewhat unique.

This is from Boxoffice magazine in November 1946:

CHICAGO-G&E Theatre Corp. has acquired the Lincoln Theatre and the City Theatre, 3031 N. Lincoln. The latter will be managed by S. J. Angelos. The theatres were previously owned and operated by the CVN circuit.

In the Chicago Tribune the City appears in movie theater listings until 1950, by 1956 an electronics store is listed at this address.
