The Georgia theatre company constructed about three or four multiplexes during the mid 1980s in the Atlanta area that were identical in both design and layout. The Shannon 8 was of this group. United Artist acquired the Georgia Theatre Company a short while after these theatres opened. When UA folded in 2000, these theatres closed as well.

The Theather opened up in the fall of'84. I saw alot of good movie there. It closed in 2000. Now boarded up. Sad.

Though not a palace, the Shannon 8 was a nice place to see a movie. At least people behaved during the movies unlike its Southlake counterpart.

One evening, a friend and I went and saw “Flowers In The Attic” then sneaked over and saw “Nuts” at an auditorium on the other end of the theater.
