State Theatre

This theatre opened in 1929 as the Miller Theatre. It was later remodeled and by 1941 had been renamed the State Theatre. It was located on E. High Street at Adams Street. The State Theatre closed in 1961 and was demolished in 1969.

This is from the Daily Capital News in October 1969:

Contracts for demolition of the State Theater building, 315 E. High St., and nine residential structures have been awarded by the Jefferson City Housing Authority. RAMCO Inc. of Jefferson City
was the successful bidder on the theater demolition with a bid of $16,400.

The State Theater was actually across the street from this location.

The Missouri State Library is currently on the site of the old State Theater.
