Rialto Theater

The Rialto Theater was built by Peter Timony and opened as the Timony Theater. I don’t know the exact year it was built but it started showing movies around 1920. In 1935 the name was changed to the Strand Theater and finally in 1938 it became the Rialto Theater. The Rialto closed around 1957.

The building was then used as a factory for a few years. After that it sat vacant until it was demolished in 2003.

Here is a photo of the Rialto which appears to be from the 1930s. The second of two frame houses up the block appears to still be standing in Google street view.
