Laie Cinemas is a twin screen theater showing first run movies. It was operated last operated by Wallace Theaters, who closed it early-2008.
In early-2009, it was taken over by new owners and was refurbished. Re-opened on 27th June 2009, it is now known as the Laei Palms Cinemas.

Wallace cosed this little gem in early 2008. It was originally a single screen, but was twined in 1994 when Wallace purchased it from 2 professors at nearby BYU. When I operated it in 1995 it was a really busy little theatre, even though it was only open 6 days a week. (The LDS church owns the shopping center, and all businesses are REQUIRED to close on Sunday, and no “R” rates)
From what the shopping center says, the property is still leased by Wallace, though they have no plans to operate it.
Last movies were shown on April 17, 2008 according to this link.
Here is another story about the closing. The last two movies to play here were “Nim’s Island” and “Drillbit Taylor”.
This theater was once Holiday Theaters in the mid to late 1970’s, owned by the company that ran the Kailua/Holiday Mart Theater and a few others on Oahu.
