I knew the owner of the Midway in the 1960s, Mr. John Hewitt (or Hewett?). He was a real character!

Mifway Owner, that seat count was probably from when the Midway first opened.

The Midway Theatre has 298 seats, not 400.

The Midway reopened on 11/21/08 after being closed since 4/3/08. The new operator of the theatre is the former General Manager, Ken Aultz. Company name of the operator is KRA Midway Theatre, LLC

And I used to have a FL neighbor who had grandparents in Bethel so I’m sure she knew about this theatre when she visited them growing up.

I will read the article, but it is a sad note in this theatre’s history. If it is just closing, perhaps it can still be save as closing is far better than demolition though one sometimes follows the other.

According to an article and group photo in the Cincinnati Enquirer of April 4, 2008, the Midway did indeed close after the evening show of “Horton Hears a Who” on Thursday, April 3rd. “1937 – 2008” was posted on the small marquee.

This is Marjorie (RANSON) Jones. I heard the doors there at the midway were closing april 3rd. I hate to hear that. I also heard you have been sick and hope you get well soon. I surely miss everyone there and miss all the fun times we had both on and off the job. Please try to write me back if you get this message. I really loved working for you.
