Opened in 1941, the Star Theatre was a single screen located on the business loop off I-44. A two story building in a mint color with the first floor level done in a cream color stucco. It featured a small marquee over the entrance and a small vertical that spelled out theatre in neon. The Star Theatre closed shortly after the B & B Ritz 4 opened on South Jefferson.

The Star was built in 1941 by F.L. “Doc” Lowe, who already operated theaters in Sterling, Kansas, and Brookfield Missouri. The opening of the Star was announced in Boxoffice of July 12 that year. Reportedly it had 500 seats.
Thanks again Ken mc for all the great pictures you get on and ads too.
This theater’s status should be changed to closed/demolished. The 200 block of N Jefferson Ave has been razed, and there is a bank building there, fairly new, and the building and its parking lot takes up that side of the block.
Where’s that night shot?
