Synetic Theater

The Crystal Theatre was one of the original tenants of the Crystal City underground complex. This first run movie theatre opened January 14, 1970 with Virna Lisi and Terry Thomas in “Arabella”. It had 700 seats and was located inside the Marriott Crystal City Hotel. It closed on the Spring of 1990, and was converted to an auditorium used by conferences held at the hotel.

In September 2010 it was taken over by the Synetic Theater Company and renamed Synetic Theater.

This modern theatre was extremely popular when new, but it lacked any architectural distinction. It was managed by KB Theaters, the best managed local movie chain Washington DC ever had. The theatre is actively used today as a conference center auditorium and classes are held there frequently.

obviously this reporter forgot about this prior location being a movie theater, but on the plus side looks like the ‘live’ Synetic theater' will have a new ‘movie’ theater neighbor.
