Opened as the Lake Theatre in 1940 and was operated by Nathanson Theatres until 1969. It became the Cinema Theatre in 1969 when Berger Theatres took over operations. The theatre closed in 1985.

Actually, the Lake Theatre burned while undergoing remodeling at Christmastime 1967 or so. It was rebuilt and reopened by Ben Berger’s company as the Cinema.

This theater was designed by Perry E. Crosier, and is mentioned in a biographical sketch of the architect in the Northwest Architectural Archives at the University of Minnesota.
