Promenade Theatre

Viewing: Photo | Street View

The Promenade Theatre was opened December 14, 1979. It was among the last theatres to open under the Plitt banner in the metro Atlanta area. The Promenade Theatre consisted of three identical auditoriums with relatively large screens, reddish orange decor and approximately equal seating capacity. Following a brief stint as second run venue during the 1980’s the Promenade Theatre was gutted and converted into an audio retailer.

Nick had been telling me we probably had Silent movie houses way before the Imperial was built. He was right.I bet Bill has never heard of those old classic movie theatres.

More movies, but I think Robin was no longer managing these screens.

robinmitcham on July 24, 2010 at 7:00 pm

I never even pretended to manage here. My husband was the manager! By the time these movies came out Judy might have been managing. You remember, you met her at the reunion — Cathy’s friend???

I worked at the Promenade in the early ‘80s- I helped put up that Porkey’s sign. The building management made us take it down. Some of the best times of my life were at this theater.

Some of my best times too, I wonder what Jessica and Suzanne are doing now? I’d surely like to catch up…
