Opened on June 24, 1940 in the 600 block of McKean Avenue, Charleroi, Pennsylvania. The original owner was Leon Richbloom. The architect (local) was Alan C. Brenton, decor by Scatena Studios of Pittsburgh. Seating was provided on a single level. Primarily an MGM showcase, adult admission was 20 cents matinee, 30 cents evening.
The State Theatre closed in 1981 and at that time was owned by the Monessen Amusement Company (Manos chain). Lou Guidetti managed it throughout its entire 41 years. The site of the State Theatre is now a parking lot for the Alliance church.
