The XIT Drive-In opened around 1955. In 1988 the only part remaining was its sign in a fenced cow pasture.

I have a L.F.D. Drive-in and Littlefield Drive-in in my Almanac 1956. no XIT Drive-in. Must be a name change.
Must have been.
There were two drive-ins in LFD. The first was the LFD, one tenth of a mile west of town. It had an open-air sound system. The second was the XIT, two tenths of a mile south of LFD on the Levelland Highway. I have photos and info on the seven theaters in LFD, TX.
Around 300 feet South of CR310 on Hwy 385 was a drive in. Older images on GE provides a clearer view. Was located East of the Hwy.

Yes, that was the XIT. I saw many movies there. JBH
Any ideas what XIT stands for? An acronym for Exit?
After a little digging, I found out that XIT was the name of an enormous ranch near the town.
XIT stands for “Ten In Texas” – that’s how large the XIT ranch was! JBH
….it contained all or part of ten (X) counties – JBH
From 1988 a photo of the XIT’s name and entrance sign which at one time housed the marquee.
